Box Score Led by Shailyn Waites first OUA hat trick, the Lancer women's hockey team earned a 5-2 victory over the York Lions on Friday night at South Windsor Arena.
 
With the win, the Lancers are 6-1-1- on the year, while the Lions are in fifth place in the OUA with a 5-4-0 record.
 
The Lancers opened up the scoring in the first period, at 15:33, with a goal by Candice Chevalier.
 
The second period demonstrated much more action than the first with a total of 19 shots. The Lancers kept their lead early in the second with Shailyn Waites' first of the game at 9:11.
 
Only 26 seconds later, York's Lisa Stathopulos planted the puck at the back of the net behind Lancer goaltender Marissa Kozovski.
 
On the penalty kill at 19:40, Stathopulos scored her second of the game short-handed to tie the game heading into the third period.
 
Waites sent another goal into the net only 17 seconds into the third giving the Lancers a 3-2 lead. At 18:32 Chevalier charged York goaltender Megan Lee, scoring her second goal of the contest.
 
Waites secured the hat trick at 19:56 to close out the scoring.
 
Kozovski made 24 saves in the win, while York's Lee made 29 saves.
 
Windsor is back on the road once again next weekend before returning home on Friday November 21st at 7:30pm at South Windsor Arena.
