Box Score TORONTO -
Derek Lanoue scored a pair of goals, as the Lancer men's hockey team earned a 3-1 win over the York Lions on Friday night at the Canlon Ice Sports.
Â
The win brings the Lancers to 17-10-0 on the season as they continue to hold onto third place in a very tight OUA west division. Windsor will face the fourth pace Ryerson Rams Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm at the Mattamy Athletic Centre Arena.
Â
Should the Lancers defeat the Rams, the lowest Windsor would finish in the standings is third overall. However, if the second place Lakehead Thunderwolves fall to the visiting Waterloo Warriors, the Lancers would move into second place in the division.
Â
Paul Bezzo opened the scoring for Windsor at 14:19 of the first period.
Derek Lanoue scored his first of the season, and night, at 18:20 of the opening frame to give Windsor a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.
Â
Eight minutes into the middle frame, Lanoue found the back of the net off a pass from
Blake Blondeel to put the Lancers up by three.
Â
The Lions spoiled
Parker Van Buskirk's shutout attempt with just three minutes remaining in regulation with a power play goal from Chad Hohmann.
Â
Van Buskirk made 35 saves in net to earn the win, while Lions goaltender Andrew Perugini made 27 for the host Lions.
