Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Lancer Hockey splits series with Concordia

The No. 6 Lancer men's hockey team split a pair of weekend games against the Concordia Stingers in Montreal. Windsor earned a 6-5 win over the Stingers on Friday night before falling to the hosts 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday.

The Lancers are now 3-1 on the season and sit in first place in the OUA west division, while the Stingers move to 2-2 on the year.

Windsor proved that they are an offensive threat across all lines as ten players found the back of the net through the two games. Dylan Denomme led the way with a pair of goals, while rookie Justice Dundas continues to contribute registering a goal and three assists. Dundas leads the OUA in points with 10 in four games played.

On Friday night, the teams traded goals back and forth until late in the second period when a pair of power play goals from Dundas and Denomme gave Windsor a 5-3 lead heading into the third.

In the final frame with Windsor now leading 6-3, Concordia scored two unanswered goals to bring the game within one with just over two minutes remaining. The Lancer defense held off the surging Stingers to earn the win.

Blake Richard made 24 saves in net for the win.

Saturday was another high scoring affair that ended with the same score as the previous evening, however this time in favour of the hosts.

Holding a 3-2 lead heading into the third period, the Lancers were once again challenged by a determined Stingers squad. In the high scoring frame, Concordia scored one more than the Lancers to tie the game at five after regulation.

With two overtime periods solving nothing, the game went into a three round shoot-out. The Lancers failed to score on all three attempts, while the Concordia's final shooter Fredrick Roy managed to get past Michael Doan to earn the win.

Doan finished the game with 25 saves

Windsor will now host the UOIT Ridgebacks in a weekend series next Friday October 22nd and Saturday October 23rd at South Windsor Arena. The puck will drop at 7:30pm both nights and can be seen live on www.oua.tv
