The Lancer women's hockey team continues to look for their first win of the season after dropping a pair of road games to the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs over the weekend.
Windsor fell to the Lakers 1-0 on Saturday afternoon before dropping a 4-1 decision to the host Voyageurs on Sunday. With the losses, the Lancers are 0-5-0-1 on the year and sit in last place in the OUA standings.
On Saturday, the Lancers and Lakers played 45 minutes of shut-out hockey before the hosts scored the lone goal of the contest. Lexi Dubol came in on the right wing to defeat the Lancer defender and put the puck over the glove of Lancer goaltender
Hanna Slater.
Slater made 20 saves in the loss, while her counterpart Jacqueline Rochefort made 19 to earn the shutout.
On Sunday, Laurentian jumped on the board just 25 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Lancers held off the Voyaguers until the midway point of the second period when they took a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
Windsor opened the third period with a goal of their own as
Shawna Lesperance redirected a shot from
Erinn Noseworthy to make the score 2-1 early in the third.
The Voyageurs controlled the play throughout much of the period, scoring two more goals to earn a 4-1 win.
The Lancers will break until Friday November 13th when they will host the York Lions at 7:30pm at South Windsor Arena.
