Voyageurs sweep No. 10 Lancers

The visiting Laurentian Voyageurs swept the No. 10 Lancer men's hockey team in a pair of weekend games at South Windsor Arena. The Voyaguers came from behind in both contests to defeat the Lancers 7-3 on Friday night and 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

With the pair of losses, the Lancers are now 6-3-1 on the season and are tied for second lace in the OUA west division with the York Lions. The Voyageurs improve to 4-5-0 on the season.

On Friday, Windsor got on the board early with a power play goal from Eric Noel at 5:36 of the first period. The lead was then doubled early on in the second on a beautiful shot from Brennan Feasey, who went in alone on Alain Valiquette after swiping the puck from a Laurentian forward.

Lancer goaltender Blake Richard had a stellar second period and maintained the Lancer lead stopping two crucial breakaways. Windsor added another at 11:18 of the second with Noel's second of the game to give Windsor a 3-0 lead.

The Voyageurs scored one shortly thereafter on a goal by Darcy Haines, to cut the lead to two heading into the second intermission.

The third period was all Laurentian as they scored at 7:22 to tie the game on a goal from former Lancer Elliot Richardson. From there, Laurentian scored three goals in under a minute to build a substantial 6-3 lead before scoring an empty net goal at 16:25 to solidify the win.

Richard made 33 saves in net for the Blue & Gold while Valiquette earned the win for the visitors with 29 saves.

After a scoreless first period on Saturday, Windsor once again built a two goals lead with a pair of power play goals from Dylan Seguin and Paul Bezzo. Laurentian cut the Lancer lead in half before the end of the period as Daniel Pachis managed to get one past Lancer goaltender Michael Doan.

The third period was once again all Voyageurs as Richardson and Graham Yeo scored for the visitors to left them past the hosts and earn the weekend sweep.

The Lancers out-shot the Voyageurs 34-23, with Valiquette once again earning the win in net for the visitors.

Windsor is back on the road next weekend for a pair of games against the Brock Badgers and York Lions.
