Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Windsor moves into first with wins over Algoma

The No. 9 ranked Lancer men's soccer team continued their strong play over the weekend to earn a pair of shut-out victories over the visiting Algoma Thunderbirds.

Windsor defeated Algoma 6-0 on Saturday and 8-0 on Sunday to hold sole possession of first place in the OUA west division with a 6-1-1 record.

On Saturday, Noah Pio gave the Lancers a quick 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, scoring both goals just 0:37 seconds apart.

Algoma held the Lancers off the board until the second half when the Blue & Gold scored four strong goals to earn the win. Goal scorers included Jamar Redhead, Stefan Grigorakis, Iyowuna Jumbo, and Damon Johnson.

The Lancers used a balance attack on Sunday scoring four goals in each half to sweep the weekend series. Jumbo scored a pair of goals while Noah Pio scored third of the weekend. Singles came from Pio's older brother Mike, Redhead, Grigorakis, Brendan Teeling, and Leighton Speechley-Price.

Kyle Vizirakis earned the shut-out both days and has a league leading six shutouts on the season.

Windsor will now travel to London on Wednesday to face the Western Mustangs (3-3-2) at 8:15pm at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
