Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lancers shut out Thunderbirds

The Lancer women's soccer team swept the visiting Algoma Thunderbirds over the weekend with a pair of dominating shut-out victories. Windsor defeated the Thunderbirds 10-0 on Saturday afternoon, followed by a 7-0 win on Sunday.

With the victories, the Lancers are now 4-4 on the season and are tied for fourth place overall in the OUA west division.

A strong second half on Saturday led to the Lancers lopsided win. The Blue & Gold led 3-0 at halftime before knocking in seven goals in the final 45 minutes to take the win. Cassie Chretien led Windsor scoring three goals in a 12 minute time span, while Becca Feurth and rookie Jenysis Gordon each scored two. Singles came from Lacey Marcoux, Amber Hoskins, and Jazmin Martin.

In game two of the weekend doubleheader, Chretien once again found the back of the net more than once. The second year forward registered another two goals to bring her weekend total to five, while Cara Cirovski also knocked in two. Singles came from Gordon, Martin & Paiten Stephens.

Second year goaltender Krystin Lawrence earned the shutout in net for both games.

Windsor will travel to London on Wednesday night to face the Western Mustangs at 6:00pm at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
