The Lancer women' soccer team split their weekend road trip, defeating the Brock Badgers 2-1 on Saturday afternoon before losing their first game of the season on Sunday against the McMaster Marauders.
 
Following the weekend, the ladies continue to remain in third place in the west division standings with an impressive 6-1-4 record.
 
Windsor opened the scoring against Brock in the 13th minute with a goal from Abby Hunt who headed the ball in off a corner kick. The Badgers would tie things up in the 37th minute with a goal from Laura Kirk.
 
In the second half, the Lancers retook the lead in the 54th minute making it 2-1 on Hunt's second of the game.
 
Brock came close to scoring again shooting the ball off the crossbar but the Lancers would hold on for the victory.
 
After a scoreless first half against McMaster on Sunday, the match looked destined to go goalless as the teams marched toward the end of regulation, until the hosts managed to get one past Lancer goaltender Krystin Lawrence.
 
McMaster's Alexandra Riganelli snuffed out a Lancer pass and ran onto the loose ball, carrying wide to the right before launching a high cross into the box, where Maila Carboni met it strongly with her head and guided the ball into the top corner at the near post.
 
Windsor will return home for one game this week as they host the Western Mustangs on Friday October 7th at 6:00pm at Alumni Field.
