Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Windsor dominates visiting Gryphons

The No. 5 Lancer women's basketball team easily defeated the Guelph Gryphons in their 2016-17 home opener on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre. The Blue & Gold came away with an 89-42 win to move them to 3-0 on the season.

All twelve Lancers got their name on the score sheet both offensively and defensively as Coach Vallee evenly spread out the game plan.

For the second time in three games Carly Steer came off the bench to lead all scorers. The third year Windsor native finished the game with 18 points going 5-for-11 from the field and 4-for-10 from the three point line. She also contributed two steals in the win.

Caitlyn Longmuir finished the game with a season high 16 points, while rookie Kayah Clarke continued her standout performance putting up 11 points.

Windsor held the lead right off the opening tip and doubled up on the visiting Gryphons in every quarter, and at one point built a 35 point lead midway through the third quarter.

The Lancers will now travel to Thunder Bay for a single game against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday November 19th at 6:00pm. The game can be seen live on oua.tv. Windsor returns home next Wednesday, November 23rd, when they host the Waterloo Warriors at 6:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.
