Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Lancers fall to No. 4 Gryphons

In their final home game of 2016, the Lancer women's hockey team fell to the No. 4 Guelph Gryphons 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at South Windsor Arena.

The Gryphons struck first early on a long slap shot scored by Katherine Bailey

Not to fall behind, the Lancers evened the score late in the first on a goal scored by Erinn Noseworthy. Assists were credited to Reagan Kaufman and Ashley Maitre.

After Guelph scored just two minutes into the second period, the frame was very back and forth for both teams although no one could capitalize on several power play opportunities.

In the third, Guelph scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead late in the period. With under a minute to go, Krystin Lawrence managed to get one past goaltender Valerie Lamenta to end the game on a positive note for the Blue & Gold.

Morgan Farrow took the loss in net or the Lancers with 11 saves, while Lamenta had 22 saves for Guelph to earn the win.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow in London to take on the Western Mustangs as they close out their 2016 half of the season. Puck drops at 4:00pm and can be seen on www.oua.tv.
