The No. 10 Lancer women's basketball team fell 60-41 to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon in Toronto.Â
The game was played at NBA Centre Court as part of the NBA All-Star game taking place in Toronto this weekend.Â
In a relatively low scoring game,
Cheyanne Roger led the way for the Blue & Gold and was named the team's player of the game. Roger, along with sophomore
Carly Steer, each had 12 points and seven rebounds.
After taking a bit of time to adjust to the setting and court, the Lancers opened the game with an 8-2 run before the Gaels battled back to make it a three point game at 12-9. Neither team could connect from there, and the Lancers led by three after one quarter.Â
After the Gaels tied it up at 12 early in the second, the defensive battle continued on as over three minutes went by with only six points scored between both teams. Shooting cooled in the second for the Lancers as they shot just 21.9% from the floor as Queen's took a 24-19 lead into halftime.
In teh third, Windsor narrowed the gap to just one point at 30-29 and had a chance to take the lead but could not capitalize on their opportunities for most of the third. In the fourth,
Caitlyn Longmuir's three pointer brought the score within single digits but the Lancers could not build on anything from there.
Windsor will now head to London next Saturday to face the Western Mustangs at 1:00pm.Â
