The No. 7 Lancer women's basketball team got back in the win column on Wednesday night with a 70-48 win over the visiting Western Mustangs at the St. Denis Centre.

The victory moves the Lancers to 9-2 on the season and into sole possession of first place in the west division, while the Mustangs fall below .500 with a 5-6 record.

After a slow start that saw the Mustangs take a 14-6 lead early in the game, the Lancers exploded late in the quarter to only trail by one, 19-18, after ten minutes. They carried that momentum through the second quarter going on a 13-5 run to overtake the Mustangs and lead 31-24 at the half.

Caitlyn Longmuir had a solid first half for the Blue & Gold leading the way with 12 points in the first twenty minutes.

Windsor was on fire in the third quarter forcing the Mustangs to call a time out just five minutes into the frame after the Lancers opened up the scoring following a 17-3 run to open the quarter. The Lancers continued to dominate the floor for the remainder of regulation to come away with the victory.

Longmuir finished with a game high 17 points, while
Emily Prevost had the games only double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Kayah Clarke and
Carly Steer also hit double digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
