The Lancer women's hockey team split their weekend home series against the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers at South Windsor Arena.

Windsor defeated the Voyageurs 3-2 on Friday night before falling 4-2Â to the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon. They are now 7-1-8-2 as they head on the road for a pair of games next week.

FRIDAY VS LAURENTIAN
The Lancers got off to a fast start with Captain
Erinn Noseworthy striking just a minute into the game to give Windsor the early lead. Co-captain
Jillian Rops was credited with the assist.

Windsor extended their lead halfway through the second on a blast from
Krystin Lawrence at 11:43. Just three minutes later at 14:53, Laurentian cut the Lancer lead in half on a goal from Sam Morell.

Laurentian then tied the game up early in the third when Morgan McCan accepted a pass from Kennedy Lanktree and Taylor Webber to put the past Lancer goaltender
Morgan Farrow.

With just over a minute remaining in regulation,
Natalie Barrette blasted a shot from the point to give Windsor the lead. The Lancer defense then held the visitors off in the last minute to secure the victory.

Farrow made 20 saves to earn the win, while Elisa Bertuzzi took the loss for the visitors making 24 saves.

SATURDAY VS NIPISSING
The Lakers got off to a hot start scoring just three minutes into the game on a goal scored by Sam Strassburger from Molly Sipprell.

Nipissing then doubled their lead at 15:38 on a marker from Jade Gauthier. The goal was assisted by Taylor McManus and Kaley Tienharra.

The Lancers cut the lead in half in the second period on a wacky goal by Noseworthy. The fourth year captain knocked the puck out of mid-air after it deflected off the glass.
Ashley Maitre was credited with the assist.

The Lakers then retook the two goal lead at 8:26 of the second on a goal from Kaley Tienhaara, and then scored again late in the second to extend their lead to three with a goal from Laura McKenzie making it a 4-1 game heading into the third. Â

Windsor fought back in the final frame as
Krystin Lawrence tallied her league leading 16th goal of the season on the powerplay at 9:41 to bring the game back within two. Helpers went to
Shawna Lesperance and Noseworthy.

Farrow was in net for Windsor making 26 saves in the loss, while Jackie Rocuefort made 27 saves for Nipissing.

UP NEXT
The Lancers will hit the road next weekend to take on the York Lions and Brock Badgers. The puck is scheduled to drop on Saturday afternoon against the Lions at 2:00pm followed by a 2:15pm game on Sunday against Brock. Both games can be seen live on
