Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey falls to Gaels in shootout

The Lancer women's hockey team dropped a tough 3-2 shootout decision to the visiting Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon at South Windsor Arena.

The loss moves the Lancers 0-1-6-1 on the season while the Gaels won their fifth straight game and sit in first place with a 5-0-2-1 record.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers had 17 shots in the opening frame, and were able to capitalize on one opportunity. The lone goal came from the stick of Danielle Butler at the 16:00-minute mark to put the Lancers in front 1-0.

The Gaels found the scoresheet in the second frame at 8:45 in the second when Taylor Hicks scored her second of the season. The Gaels then took the lead when Hailey Wilson beat Lancer netminder Molly Jenkins.

Teah Burke scored her first OUA career goal late in the third period to tie it up and send the game into overtime.

After neither team was able to score in the extra period despite many great chances and eight shots from Queen's, the game headed to a shootout.

In the shootout, Muna Fadel found the back of the net for Windsor and Addi Halladay scored for Queen's. Both team's second shooters were stopped and the Lancers third shooter Emily Bowman was also stopped by Gaels goaltender Makenzy Arsenault. Katrina Manoukarakis sealed the victory for the visitors with a quick wrist shot above the glove of Jenkins.
