Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Lancers shut out Golden Hawks

The Windsor Lancer's women's hockey team welcomed the Laurier Golden Hawks to South Windsor Arena on Saturday afternoon. Windsor was looking to out the sour taste of a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Mustangs last night in Windsor. The Lancers scored first and never looked back on their way to a dominant 4-0 win.

The win improves the Lancer record to 1-1-8-2, while the Hawks fall to 1-0-7-1.

GAME STATS
Sydney Dobbins may have been the best team mate on the ice, recording three assists on the night for the Lancers.

Molly Jenkins recorded a 32 save shut out for the Lancers. Laurier's Cohen Meyers stopped 30 of the 34 shots she faced.

The Lancers special teams came to play. Windsor scored on three of their power plays while killing each penalty they took.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers started the game off in bit of a defensive fashion, with neither team being able to assume control in the early going. The defensive stalemate broke about halfway through the first period when Ashely Maitre was able to beat the Golden Hawks goaltender Cohen Meyers on a power play opportunity. Later in the period, the Lancers would again find twine when Taylor Conte beat Meyers off assists from Sydney Dobbin and Emily Bowman. The Blue and Gold kept the onslaught going when Kennedy Snively scored on another power play to make the score 3-0 at the end of the first.

After the intermission the Lancers showed no sign of slowing their potent offense, nor would they stop executing on the power play. Less than two minutes into the second period Conte picked up her second goal of the game on a power play opportunity off a feed from Dobbin.  The Lancers controlled the rest of the game and won in convincing fashion, 4-0.
