Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lancers dominate visiting Rams

Friday's basketball game against the Ryerson Rams tipped off just as the Lancers had hoped. The Lancers women's basketball team got off to a hot start and then dominated the glass and the pace of the game, winning their second straight game handily, 62-42.

The win moves the Lancers to 2-0 on the year, while the Rams land at .500 with a 1-1 record.

GAME STATS
Fifth year senior Emily Prevost notched the game's only double-double, scoring 16 points to go along with her 10 rebounds.

Once again Carly Steer was the game's leading scorer, pouring in 20 points for the Lancers, while Olivia Osamusali led the way for the Lancers with 11 rebounds.

Ryerson was led by Sofia Paska, who scored 14 and also led the visitors in rebounds with eight.

The Lancers were able to hold the Rams without a successful three-point attempt, giving up no points on 13 shots from beyond the arc.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers got things going with a Tyra Blizzard three right off the opening tip and followed that up with another three directly after, en route to an 8-0 run. The women's team was paced by Steer in the first half who scored 13 of the Lancers 31 first half points. The Windsor lead was also helped by a dominating first half performance on the glass as the Lancers out rebounded the Rams 2:1, collecting 32 rebounds to Ryerson's 16; led by guard Kaylee Anagnostopoulos' impressive eight boards.

In the second half, it would be Prevost whose scoring would pace the Blue & Gold. After a strong first half performance that saw the Montreal native bring down seven rebounds, the senior forward went to work on offense, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and knocking down her two three point shots.

The Lancers also continues their dominance in the paint, bringing down 52 rebounds to Ryerson's 34. All in all, the Rams were ill equipped to deal with the interior force of the Lancers as Windsor won 62-42.
