Lancers host Lions in Western Conference Finals

This is the fifth time in the past six years that the Lancer men's hockey team is making an appearance in the OUA Western Conference Finals.

Windsor will take on the York Lions in the best-of-three series with game one going Wednesday March 1st at 7:30pm at South Windsor Arena. Games two and three (if necessary) are scheduled for March 3rd & 4th in Toronto.

The Lancers swept the top seeded Ryerson Rams in the division semi-finals last week to advance while the Lions also swept their series against the Guelph Gryphons in two quick games and have been off since last Thursday.

Windsor and York split their two regular season match-ups with each team winning by only one goal on home ice. The Lancers fell 3-2 in double overtime up in Toronto before rebounding on home ice to come away with a 1-0 victory.

Throughout the post season, the Lancers have been led by goaltender Blake Richard who has done everything but stand on his head to help secure the Lancer victories.

The winner of this series will advance to the Queen's Cup and secure a spot at the U SPORTS national championship, while the other team will battle it out in the OUA bronze medal game for the conference's third spot at the championships.

Tickets for Wednesday's game are $10 for adults, $8 for youth/seniors, and $3 for current University of Windsor students, and can be purchased starting one hour prior to puck drop on Wednesday at South Windsor Arena.

The game can also be seen live on www.oua.tv.
