The Lancer women's hockey team is still looking for their first win of the season after a 4-2 loss to the Ryerson Rams on Sunday afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Complex.
 
GAME FLOW
Penalties were the story of the first period. The opening 10 minutes of the game were very even, with both teams generating chances and failing to score on a power play each. The teams headed into the intermission deadlocked at zero.
 
Just under four minutes into the second period the Rams offence controlled play in the offensive zone. Off a rebound, Ryerson shot the puck past Lancer goaltender Kristen Swiatochik to give Ryerson the 1-0 lead.
 
But just five minutes later Jessica Gribbon responded with a goal for the Blue & Gold, tying the game up at 1-1 with half of the game still to be played.
 
Both teams once again traded power plays in the last 10 minutes of the second period, and once again both teams failed to convert on the advantage and went into the locker rooms tied after two periods.
 
The third period opened with Windsor having a grade A chance in the slot, but Rams goalie Rachel Seeley turned it aside and the Rams took momentum from that and began pushing the tempo.
 
The Rams would score a power play goal almost at the midway point of the third to take a 2-1 lead. Trying to capitalize on a Rams penalty, the Lancers pulled Swiatochik in favour of the extra attacker. However, the hosts were able to clear their zone and score on a shot that cleared the full length of the ice to take a 3-1 lead.
 
But Windsor wasn't going down without a fight as Taylor Conte scored with 22 seconds to play. However, the Rams again scored on the empty net to secure the victory.
