The Windsor Lancers women's hockey team hosted the UOIT Ridgebacks Friday night hoping to pick up their first win of the season, and to do it in front of their home crowd. Unfortunately, the Ridgebacks came out quick and defeated the Lancers 3-0.
 
The Lancers were looking to start fast against a UOIT squad that was also winless heading into the competition as well. Unfortunately the Ridgebacks had different plans netting the first goal and taking the all important road lead with Kassidy Nabouris beat Kristen Swiatoschik 5:30 into the first.
 
Later, two minutes into the second period the Ridegbacks's Chelsea Ball found twine on the power play to put the Ridegbacks on top by two. In the third, the Lancers battled hard, applying pressure not seen in the game up that point. Down 2-0 late the Lancers went to the powerplay with a chance to make a game of it, unfortunately, Nabouris struck again, this time shorthanded. Despite outplaying the Ridegbacks late, the Lancers fell at home 3-0.
