Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Four goal period lifts Queen's over Windsor

In their second home game of the season, the Lancer women's hockey team was hoping to overcome a tough loss Friday night and earn their first win of the season.

However, despite earning the first goal of the night and playing a solid first and third period, the Lancers were not able to overcome a four goal period by the visiting Queen's Gaels, falling 4-1.

GAME STATS
Lancer goalie Molly Jenkins made a good effort in net, stopping 22 of the 26 pucks that came her way. The Gaels' Makenzy Arsenault stopped seven of the eight shots she faced.

Neither team registered a shot on goal in the entire third period.

Both teams were in and out of the box with the Lancers being assessed 16 minutes in total and the Gael's were called for 10 minutes total. Queen's was 1 for 5 on their power plays while Windsor was 0 for 2.

GAME FLOW
The first period was a rather un eventful period with neither team finding a consistent attack through the first 20 minutes of play. The second period was when things took off; Queen's Katrina Manoukarakis opened the scoring just four minutes into the frame. Six minutes later the Lancers tied it up when Alex Reiter ripped one past the Queen's goalie Makenzy Arsenault to tie the game at one.  The tie lasted all of five minutes as at the 15:40 mark of the second period Caroline DeBruin beat Molly Jenkins to put Queen's up 2-1, three minutes later it was Hailey Wilson doing the damage for the Gaels and Addi Halladay after her; putting the Lancers down 4-1 heading into the third period.

Unfortunately for the Lancers the final twenty minutes was not enough to figure out their offensive woes; despite not allowing a goal for 20 minutes, the second period sank the Lancers 4-1.
