Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey swept by Patriots

The Lancer men's hockey team headed pretty far from home for a weekend double header against the UQTR Patriots in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Heading into the weekend undefeated, the Lancers dropped both games to the host Patriots.

Windsor is now 3-2 on the season and return home to the confines of the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex for the next two weeks of competition.

FRIDAY
Things got off to a rough start for the Lancers as the Patriots were all over the visiting Blue and Gold early on in the game. About midway through the first period, the Patriots converted pressure into a goal when Loik Leveille beat Johnathan Reinhart. Things got worse for the Blue and Gold as just three minutes later, Christophe Bolivin doubled the home team's lead.

The Lancers got out of the period without allowing anymore damage but Boivin struck again, putting the Patriots up 3-0 early in the second period.  Halfway through the Lancers converted a power play into points when John Wesley found twine; however any celebration was short lived as the Partiots beat Reinhart for the fourth time when Deven St-Hillaire scored.

SATURDAY
After losing to the Patriots the night before, Windsor came out strong as the two teams looked to be an equal matchup.

The blue and gold went on their first power play halfway through the period, but gave up a short handed goal only seconds into it.

Momentum changed in favour of the Patriots as they put another goal behind Reinhart before the end of the period.

The Patriots took an early penalty in the second period. While the Lancers were unable to convert on the opportunity, they began to control the play.

While the blue and gold were putting on the pressure, they gave up another quick goal off of an odd man rush break down the ice, before the period was up.

Windsor narrowed the gap in the third as Friesen put the puck past the Patriot's goaltender in the fifth minute, after the Quebec team took a hooking penalty.

The Patriots managed to break through Windsor's pressure one more time to score on the transition before Windsor was able to score their second goal in the last few minutes of the game.

UP NEXT
Windsor will host the UOIT Ridgebacks in a weekend doubleheader next week. The puck will drop at 7:30pm on both Friday October 26th and Saturday October 27th. Tickets can be purchased online at goLancers.ca/tickets.
