Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Windsor doubles up on Mustangs

The Lancer men's hockey team doubled up on the visiting Western Mustangs 4-2 to open the 2018-19 Wednesday night at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex.

Windsor rookie John Wesley struck early to begin the game, showing no early-season rust and finding the back of the net midway through the opening frame to give the Lancers the 1-0 lead. However, the Mustangs retaliated quickly when Zach Core answered less than a minute later with a goal of his own to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

Windsor continued their persistent attack on the Mustangs throughout the second and the effort paid off. Justice Dundas sniped one into the top cover over Luke Peresinni's left shoulder to put the Lancers up 2-1.

In the third, Connor Logan picked up his first of the year with a power play goal at 4:31.

Down by a pair of goals, the Mustangs applied extra pressure and brought the game within one with eight minutes left on the clock. Peresinni headed to the bench in favour of the extra attacker, but Brennan Feasey sealed the deal for Windsor with an empty netter with under a minute to play.

Jonathan Reinhart backstopped the Lancers to victory making 30 saves for the Blue & Gold. Peresinni made 27 saves for the visitors.
