GAME STATSÂ
The Mustangs' Cedric Joseph rushed for an OUA record 355 yards on just 17 carries in the first half. The Lancers ground attack was led by Marcus Kentner who had 47 yards on 14 carries.Â
Harry McMaster led all players in receiving, hauling in three catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns. The Lancers main weapon was Alex Bornais who caught two balls for 31 yards.Â
Despite the loss, Daniel Metcalfe was probably the best defensive player on the field, leading all players in tackles with 15, two forced fumbles, one recovery for a touchdown and an interception. The Western defense was spearheaded by Devin Comber who had seven tackles and a sack.Â
GAME FLOWÂ
Things didn't start of well for the visiting Lancers as they conceded a safety on their very first drive. A couple touchdown passes to Harry McMaster later and the Lancers were staring down the barrel of a 16-0 deficit. Â
Metcalfe gave the Lancers a boost with an interception that set up the Lancers deep in Mustang territory. Windsor quarterback Sam Girard found Tristan Carter in the end zone a couple plays later to get the Lancers on the board. Despite three turnovers however, the Lancers were unable to contain Cedric Joseph, who almost single handily ran the Mustangs to a 49-7 halftime lead.Â
In the second half the same issues plagued the Lancers as they struggled to get a consistent offence going. Despite forcing the Mustangs into four turnovers, including a scoop and score from Metcalfe that turned a Mustangs quarterback sneak into a touchdown; the Lancers fell 66-14.Â
