GAME FLOW
Both teams battled to be the first to find the back of the net in the first period. Lancers traded several scoring opportunities with the Badgers, but the impressive goaltending on either side of the ice saw a scoreless first period, with neither team seeming to have an edge over the other.
Â
The back and forth continued with the Badgers starting the second period on the power play. The man advantage saw Brock's Maggie Spratt-Mallick put the Badgers up 1-0 early in the second period.
Â
Shortly after the goal, Niamh Haughey came up high on Windsor's
Meredith Goldhawk, putting the Lancers on a four minute power play, which they were unable to capitalize on.
Â
Brock controlled most of the play for the remainder of the period. Bombarded with shots, Jenkins was able to hold off the Badger's attack for the Lancers to escape the period trailing by one.
Â
The blue and gold came out with a new energy that their opponents were unable to compete with for the third period.
Samantha Spagnol scored the first goal for Windsor six minutes into the period.
Â
The Lancers saw several opportunities to put the game away but were unable to get past the Badger goaltending, forcing the game into overtime.
Â
Jessica Gribbon sealed the game for Windsor after 46 seconds, putting the puck past Emma Balazsi for the Lancers first win of the season.
