Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Lancers come up short against Warriors

Coming off their first win of the season last weekend, the Lancers women's hockey team headed to Waterloo where they hoped to continue their success against the Warriors. After a defensively focused game, the Warriors came out on top with a 2-0 win over Windsor.

Windsor found themselves shorthanded early in the game, taking a tripping penalty a minute into the game. While they were able to kill the penalty, the Warriors were able to build momentum which they carried throughout the period.

Maryn Caragata got the first goal of the night for the Warriors half way through the period, followed by another Windsor penalty.

The Lancers continued to play shorthanded throughout the first half of the game, taking another penalty minutes into the third. After another successful Lancer penalty kill, the Warriors put the final goal of the night on the board, with Sarah Rettinger finding the back of the net.

The blue and gold saw some scoring opportunities in the closing minutes of the period but were unable to narrow the deficit.

Despite having power play opportunities of their own, the blue and gold were unable to make anything happen in the Warrior zone throughout the third period. For their own part, the Warriors struggled to get around the Lancers defence, and the period only saw a total of 13 shots, with the Lancers being shutout 2-0.
