The Windsor Lancer women's hockey team were looking to earn their second win of the season against the Brock Badgers Saturday afternoon at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex. The Lancers scored early and led most of the game but a late goal and a rough overtime cost the team as they lost a heartbreaker, 2-1 in overtime.
 
GAME STATS
Kristen Swiatochik put in a great effort between the pipes, stopping 38 of 40 shots. Brock's Murphy Jensen stopped 36 of 37 shots and picked up the win.
 
The Lancers special teams killed of each Brock's power play opportunities but were also unable to score on their six chances with the extra man.
 
GAME FLOW
Things got going in a hurry for the blue and gold as Lexi Contratto put the Lancers on the board not even three minutes into the game. The Lancers leaned heavily on their defense in the first period, giving up just six shots to the Badgers in the first period.
 
The Lancers continued to rely on their defense in the second period. Offense in this game was coming at a premium, even with two powerplays the Lancers couldn't muster a goal to give themselves some breathing room. Fortunately for the Lancers, Swiatochik was ready for the pressure, stonewalling the Badgers in the second period to preserve the 1-0 lead through 40 minutes.
 
In the third the Badgers broke through the Lancer defense, peppering their net with shots. Swiatochik made a number of incredible saves, however, with 4:51 to go in the game Hunter Accursi broke the brick wall and got the Badgers on the board, tying the game and eventually sending it into overtime tied at one. The overtime didn't last long as just over two minutes in Brock's Morgan Dezzell ended the game with a nice put back sealing the game for the Badgers, 2-1.
