Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Lancers swept on road trip

The Lancer men's hockey team dropped a pair of road games in Toronto. Windsor fell 10-6 to Ryerson Thursday night before losing 4-1 to York on Friday.

THURSDAY @ RYERSON
Down 2-1 heading into the second period, the Lancers had a tough period giving up four goals in the frame. Head coach Kevin Hamlin switched out goaltender Jonathan Reinhart in favour of Paolo Battisti but the switch did little to help the Lancers. Although the outshot the Rams in the period, the heading into intermission down 6-1.

The third period was a wild one with nine goals between the two squads. The offensive fireworks did little to help the Lancers though as they could not keep Ryerson off the board long enough to get close, dropping the game 10-6 in Toronto

FRIDAY @ YORK
The Lions wasted little time in jumping out to a lead against the Lancers as Jack Goranson beat Reinhart not even three minutes into the game to put his Lions up 1-0.  Despite the goal the Lancers kept active on the offensive end, outshooting the Lions in the first period 11-10. The Lions netted a second goal with 1:45 to go in the first as well with Scott Feser getting credit for the goal, sending the Lions into the break up 2-0.

The second period didn't start a whole lot better for Windsor as they conceded a power play goal to the Lions and found themselves down 3-0 midway through the period. The Lancers needed a goal desperately and got one not a moment too soon when Justice Dundas was able to sneak one past York's Mack Shields with 9:20 to go in the second. The Lancers couldn't manage to score again but went into the third with a more manageable deficit.

The Lancers offense was locked down in the third period, needing points and in a hurry the Lancers managed just two shots in the period. The Lions, on the other hand, were continuing their offensive success, scoring not even two minutes into the period, sealing the Lancers' fate as they blue and gold fell 4-1.
