In an upset the Windsor Lancers men's volleyball team fell in four sets to the Toronto Varsity Blues 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25). Â The loss marks only the second of the season for the Lancers, putting them 6-2 for the season, maintaining their first position in the OUA West.

GAME STATS
Brad Gyemi led the Lancer attack with 14 kills, while also contributing with 10 digs. However, Toronto's Chris Towe led the game with 23 kills.

Pierce Johnson also had a strong offensive game, grabbing 12 kills of his own.

The Lancers played a defense game with 11 team blocks, while the Varsity Blues only had 5.

GAME FLOW
The first set saw a lot of back and forth between the two teams, as they took turns smashing the ball past their opponents. Despite the impressive offensive performance by Gyemi, the Lancers lost the set 25-23.

The blue and gold took an early lead in the second set, as their opponents were unable to control their heavy attacks. A Variety Blues' timeout saw them begin to mount a comeback, but the Lancers were able to hold them off to take the set 25-21.

The Lancers again caught their opponents flat footed as they came out with an early lead in the third frame. The Lancers were up 19-15 when the Toronto called a timeout. Following the break, the Varsity Blues went on a heavy attack, blasting the ball through the Lancer defence. Toronto took the set 25-23.

The fourth set saw both teams focusing on offence, but it was the Lancers that once again took the lead, going up 16-12. Following the technical timeout, Toronto came out with another offensive attack, going on run to win the game 25-22, and taking the match.
