After coming out with a slow start, the Lancers women's volleyball team fell in three sets to the Toronto Varsity Blues (16-25, 17-25, 25-27).
Â
The first two sets saw the Lancers struggle to defend against Toronto's strong attacks, with the team only accumulating two blocks by the end of the second frame.
Â
The blue and gold began to find their offensive legs in the second set, as
Lexi Pollard delivered heavy smashes. However, Varsity Blues maintained their defensively focused play, and held the Lancers off to take the set 25-16.
Â
The Lancers found their rhythm for the third frame, going point for point with Toronto, keeping the game within two for the majority of the set. Impressive blocking by
Alana Gyemi and
Ally Winik saw the Lancers go on a late run that put them up 24-20.
Â
A Windsor timeout gave the Varsity Blues the break they needed to mount a comeback and take the set 27-25.
