Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Windsor Basketball defeats Blues; splits weekend road trip

The Lancer men's basketball team split their weekend road trip to the GTA. After falling 94-38 to the Ryerson Rams on Friday night, the Lancers rebounded and put up their own 90+ score on Saturday to defeat the Toronto Varsity Blues 95-84.

Heading into their final weekend of competition before Christmas, the Lancers are 3-6 on the season and tied for fifth place in the OUA west division standings.

FRIDAY @ RYERSON
Shooting an impressive 47 percent from the field the Rams built a 52-18 lead at halftime. Ryerson's defense was just as impressive preventing any Lancer from hitting double digits and out-rebounding the blue and gold 58-37.

Telloy Simon, Lucas Wood, and Thomas Kennedy all had six points for the Lancers, while JV Mukama led all scorers with 24 points for Ryerson.

SATURDAY @ TORONTO
The Lancers rode a huge performance from their back court as Telloy Simon dropped 32 to lead all scorers and Damian Pursaud was right behind him with 24. The Blues were led by Nikola Paradina and Inaki Alvarez who had 20 each.

The Lancers on a whole had their best shooting performance of the season, hitting 47 per cent of their looks. The Varsity Blues had a good shooting night as well, making 39 per cent of their shots

The Lancers played well in the early going, having one of the most efficient outings on offense in the early going. The Varsity Blues played well too staying on Windsor's tail for the entire half. Windsor went into the break up 43-36.

In the second half the already hot Lancers offense hit another gear, heating up the three-point line. Despite the improved long-range shot, the Blues chipped away at the Lancer lead and took over midway though the third. The Lancers kept their composure and gained some separation to earn a much needed, gutsy win on the road, 95-64.

UP NEXT
The Lancers head on one last road trip to close out the first half of the season next week. They will take on the Laurentian Voyaguers on Friday November 30th at 8:00pm. The game can be seen live at www.oua.tv.
