Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Windsor Basketball comes from behind to defeat Queen's

The Lancer men's basketball team closed out a busy day of competition with a dramatic come from behind victory, defeating the Queen's Gaels 61-59 on Saturday night at the St. Denis Centre.

Windsor is now 2-2 on the season and are in a four way tie for third place in the OUA west division.

GAME STATS
Telloy Simon came off the bench to lead the Lancers with 19 points, while Queen's Jaz Bains had a fantastic day, leading all scorers with 28 points on 50 per cent shooting.

The Lancers were heavily outplayed on the glass, losing the rebound battle by a 42-30 margin.

GAME FLOW
To open the game, the Lancers struggled to establish any sort of consistent half-court offense. However, despite the offensive woes, the blue and gold defense kept the Lancers within striking distance. Unfortunately for the Lancers they couldn't close the gap before the half, going into the break down 32-26.

The same issues plagued Windsor as the second half got under way. The Lancers offense remained stagnated in the half court but the defense kept the deficit manageable, keeping the Lancers within single digits.

In the fourth quarter the Lancers stuck to their plan and continued their defensive effort, which paid off as the Lancers forced some major turnovers late and bringing the game within striking distance.  DeVonte Daniels made the play of the game, stealing the ball from Jaz Bains and running down the floor to lay in the game winner, putting Windsor up 60-59 with mere seconds left. A free throw from Simon sealed the victory at 61-59.
