Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Penalty trouble sees Windsor fall to Laurier

The Lancers women's hockey team suffered defeat at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex Saturday where they hosted the Laurier Golden Hawks. While Windsor controlled most of the game, the Lancers saw some penalty trouble that the visiting team capitalized on to secure the 3-0 win.

GAME STATS
Laurier goalie Cohen Myers had a phenomenal game, stopping all 30 of Windsor's shots and securing the shutout.

Windsor's penalty kill unit saw some success, allowing only one goal while killing off seven penalties, including a long five on three.

GAME FLOW
The first period saw a lot of back and forth while neither team was able to find their footing early in the game.

The blue and gold had two power play chances, but were unable to put the puck past the Laurier goalie. The Lancers doubled the Golden Hawks in shots in the first period, but the game remained scoreless.

Laurier came out of the break strong to score the first goal three minutes into the period.

This saw Windsor become more aggressive in their play, making six trips to the penalty box, forcing them to play shorthanded for the majority of the period. The penalty kill unit did its job, and the Lancers were lucky to escape the period with only giving up one more goal.

The final frame saw a much more tame Lancers as they managed to stay out of the penalty box long enough to control the game.

The Lancers once again saw their share of opportunities, outshooting Laurier 15-3, but Myers left nothing open and shut the Lancers out.

Laurier's Jaden Head found the empty net to end the game 3-0 for the Golden Hawks.
