The Windsor Lancers continued their home stand on Friday night at the St. Denis Centre. After a 2-0 weekend at home last week, the Lancers were looking to maintain their winning ways against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. The Lancers offense was kept at bay early and despite some late game adjustments, just couldn't figure out Ottawa's defense, falling 74-60.

GAME STATS
The Ottawa defense had a day, holding the Lancers to just 31 per cent shooting and 21 per cent from three. The Lancers held the Gee-Gees to 45 per cent and 47 per cent respectively.
Â
Brooklyn McAlear of Ottawa led all scorers with 23 points. Windsor was led by
Olivia Osamusali who put up 16 points.
Â
McAlear led the Gee-Gees on the glass too, coming down with 14 rebounds for a double-double.
Olivia Osamusali also led the Lancers' effort on the boards with seven rebounds.

GAME FLOW
Things got off to a slow start for both teams. The Lancers and Gee-Gees struggled to get any offense going. Midway through the first quarter the Lancers were down 4-2 and their only points were earned at the free throw line. The blue and gold didn't hit a field goal until 54 seconds remained in the first quarter, going into the second down 10-6.
Â
In the second quarter, Windsor's offense remained stuck in the mud as the Gee-Gees began widening their lead. With virtually no offense to speak of, the Lancers defense faltered, allowing 30 points in one quarter, making the score 40-16 at halftime in favour of the visiting Gee-Gees.
Â
The third quarter didn't fare much better for the hosts as their offense remained bogged down by Ottawa's swarming defense. The Gee-Gee's size inside presented a challenge the Lancers haven't quite faced this season and it proved to bog down any sort of inside workings of the half-court offense. The Lancer offense seemingly turned a corner late in the fourth quarter, but the points were a little too late as the Lancers dropped the first game of the weekend, 74-60.
