Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball loses second straight with loss to Carleton

The Lancer women's basketball team had their work cut out for them Saturday night at the St. Denis Centre when they hosted the undefeated and sixth-ranked Carleton Ravens. Windsor had some solid moments but struggled to find any consistent success and fell 70-54.

GAME STATS
Carleton's Alyssa Cerino led all scorers with 20 points. Windsor was led by first year forward Madelaine Adams who scored 12.

The Lancers were stymied on offense, with the Carleton defense forcing a 35 percent field goal rate. Carleton shot 51 per cent on the night.

The Lancers were more than handled on the boards, losing the rebound battle 32-24.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers had some success early, but their small lead vanished fast. Windsor went to their bench early and found some quality minutes from first year forward Adams who carved out a spot for herself under the basket and made good use of it, scoring 10 points in the half to lead all scorers. After trailing 19-10 after the first the Lancers found some better offense in the second quarter and a little more success on defense. However, Carleton, led by Cerino was the squad that led at halftime, 32-25.

The third quarter went to the Ravens as they had little trouble navigating the Lancers defense. The Ravens had their highest scoring quarter of the game with 22 points on 67 per cent shooting in the frame. The Lancers' shooting improved as well, however with their improved mark being 50 per cent they could not keep up with the Ravens, trailing 54-40 after three quarters. The fourth quarter hardly proved any different as the Lancers struggled to produce on offense or string together stops on defense, falling 70-54.
