The Lancer women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a pair of road losses. Windsor dropped a 2-0 decision to the reigning OUA champion Guelph Gryphons Friday evening before falling 3-1 to the York Lions on Sunday night in Toronto. 
 
FRIDAY vs GUELPH
Guelph was aware of the Lancers ability to strike and did a good job controlling the play early. Tarasoff, a second-year central midfielder, would put the hosts up early on a stunning set piece in the 21st minute. The Gryphons were awarded a free kick just a few yards outside the area and Tarasoff made her chance count, thumping a powerful strike into the top left corner of the Windsor net.
 
Victoria Hinchcliffe added the Gryphons second goal in the 60th minute.
 
SUNDAY vs YORK
The Lancers scored the first goal of the match, and their first of the season, 36 minutes into the game when Kaitlyn Austin put the Lancers up on a beautiful through ball from Jenysis Gordon.

The Lions, however, did not let the Lancer lead last long as they evened the score just four minutes later to send the game deadlocked at one heading into the half. 

The hosts scored a pair of goals in the final 45 minutes to secure the win.

The Lancers home opener is set for Friday August 31st when they host the Brock Badgers at 6:00pm at Alumni Field.
