Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey shut out by Varsity Blues

In their first matchup of the season against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, the Lancers men's hockey team were defeated 4-0, and set up a heated matchup for when these two teams will once again face off next weekend.

The Lancers came out with an aggressive start, getting the early edge with their physical play. The blue and gold only maintained this edge briefly before Toronto's Nathan Hudgin found the first goal of the night, five minutes into the game.

The Varsity Blues took control of the period, outshooting Windsor 17-9 in the first period, and finding the back of the net once again before the first intermission.

Tensions were high throughout the second period, and the Varsity Blues were unable to maintain their composure, taking several trips to the penalty box.

After several confrontations between the two teams, the period hit its climax as Toronto's Hunter Atchison ran the Lancer goaltender, Jonathan Reinhart, and got evicted from the game.

Despite having five power play opportunities in the game, and outshooting their opposition 11-2 in the period, the Lancers were unable to find the back of the net.

The third period saw Toronto find their composure, as more disciplined play saw them find the back of the net once more, before taking the game 4-0 with an empty net goal.
