The Lancers women's volleyball team had a dominate performance as they hosted the Lakehead Thunderwolves. The blue and gold easily handled the last place team in the OUA west, winning in three straight sets (25-14, 25-10, 25-10).
 
GAME STATS
Brooke Davis led her team to victory with 25 assists, while Hannah Shortreed led the Thunderwolves with 10 assists of her own.
 
The Lancer defense was led by Amie Slawson, who accumulated eight digs, and Ally Winik who led the game with 8 blocks.
 
Lakehead's Rheanna Geisel led the game in offence with 42 total attacks and 10 kills, while Lexi Pollard led the Lancers with 17 attacks and seven kills.
 
GAME FLOW
The Lancers came out with a quick charge, taking control early in the game with a 9-3 lead.
 
A Lakehead timeout allowed the Thunderwolves a chance to get their feet under them, and they were finally about to mount an offence of their own. However, they were unable to close the gap, and lost the set 25-14.
 
The Lancers continued to dominate the Thunderwolves through the second set. A strong Lancer attack, led by Paige Phills and Lexi Pollard, saw the Lancers run away with the set, winning it 25-10.
 
There was no holding back for the blue and gold, as they continued to apply the pressure through the third set.
 
The Thunderwolves stayed close on the tail of the Lancers for the first 15 points of the set, until a 13 point run for Windsor gave them the edge. The Lancers took the set 25-9, winning the game in three straight.

The Lancers will again host the Thunderwolves at the St. Denis Centre for the second game of their double header tomorrow, Sunday, January 20, at 1:00pm.
