The Windsor Lancers battled hard and played the Badgers much closer than the 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, 15-25) loss would suggest. The Lancers inexperience showed, but so did their determination and persistence, taking multiple leads in each set.
Â
Ultimately the Badgers strung more plays together and capped it off with a great third set, dropping the Lancers to 0-1 on the season.
Â
GAME STATS
Amie Slawson led a great defensive effort for the Lancers, leading all players with 14 digs. Darby Taylor and Aleiah Torres led the Badgers with 11 each.
Â
Brock's Laura Condotta led all players in kills with 15. The Lancers were led by
Ally Winik's eight.

GAME FLOW
The first set was all blue and gold early as the Lancers built a 12-8 lead on the road off of some great team defensive positioning and offensive play from Winik. A service error gave the Badgers life though, finding some weak spots and taking advantage as they closed the gap and took their first lead at 14-13. What ensued was a tight back and forth until Windsor called a time out down 20-19. Out of the timeout the Lancers kept it close but couldn't retake the lead, ultimately falling 25-22.
Â
In the second set the Lancers scored the first points but found themselves trailing early.
Hannah Camrass got some offense going from the service line before an error slowed the Windsor comeback. Windsor scored three straight points that was capped off by a
Lexi Pollard ace to tie the game at nine. Brock continued to creep ahead of the Lancers again before Windsor tied it up at 18. Unfortunately, the Badgers, just as they had before, answered the Lancers run with poise as they approached set point. Like the first set Windsor kept it close but the hosts held serve and took the set 25-21. Â
Â
The Badgers came out in commanding fashion, climbing out to a 6-3 lead and not giving the Lancers much in terms of scoring space. However just as it looked like the Badgers may start to run away with it the Lancers stormed back to take a 7-6 lead on a great block at the net. Unfortunately, service errors continued to sink the blue and the hosts went on to win the set 25-15.
