Reinhart blanks Rams; Windsor wins in a shoot-out

The Windsor Lancers came out on top despite not scoring a regulation goal, with a 1-0 shootout win over the Ryerson Rams at the Capri Pizzeria Recreational Complex Saturday night.

Goalie Jonathan Reinhart had a stellar day between the pipes, earning his first OUA shutout of the season and improving his Lancers to 6-1-0.

GAME STATS
Reinhart stopped all 37 shots he faced plus those in the shootout. Ryerson's Garrett Forrest stopped all 27 shots he faced during regulation but allowed both Lancer shooters to score in the shootout.

Both teams went 0/4 on the powerplay, while the Lancers were outshot on the day 37-28.

GAME FLOW
The first period was a tightly contested 20 minutes between the Rams and Lancers. Both tied for shots on goal with 12, each took a penalty in the period and both killed it off. It wasn't surprising then when both teams were tied 0-0 heading into the first intermission.

In the second period the Lancers penalty kill got more work as the blue and gold were called twice for penalties in the period. The Lancers killed both off and managed to keep the scoreless draw going. The Rams picked up the pressure in the second, out shooting the Lancers 12-7 but Reinhart was up to the task, blanking the Rams through two frames.

The third period was also scoreless affair as both Reinhart and Forrest stood on their heads, making six and five saves respectively to keep their teams tied as regulation came to an end. In the overtime period the Lancers had to rely on Reinhart as they failed to take a shot on net.  Luckily Reinhart's stellar play kept up and the Lancers got another shot in a shootout. In the end, Brennan Feasey and Ethan Skinner each scored while Reinhart blanked all the Rams shooters to earn the win, 1-0 over Ryerson.
