The Windsor Lancers women's hockey team battled hard Saturday afternoon but were bested 3-2 by the Waterloo Warriors on home ice.

The Lancers gave the Warriors all they could handle, scoring a late goal to keep it a one goal game but Waterloo's Mikayla Schnarr was too good in net, dropping the Lancers to 0-7-1 on the season.

Molly Jenkins made 22 saves on 25 shots on the game for the Lancers. Mikayla Shnarr stopped 16 of the 18 shots she faced.

Waterloo's
Krystin Lawrence scored two goals on the game including the game winner. The Lancers were led by
Maggie Peterson who scored one goal and got an assist.

GAME FLOW
The first period was all Waterloo as the Warriors outshot the Lancers 10-2 and were rewarded with two goals. Taytum Clairmont beat
Molly Jenkins 4:15 into the game and Lawrence followed up just after the midway point of the period, making it 2-0 for the Warriors after 20 minutes.

In the second period the Lancers performed much better offensively, putting pressure on Shcnarr and out shooting the Warriors in the second frame. Finally, eleven minutes in the pressure paid off when Peterson got the Lancers on the board and cut the Warriors lead in half. The Lancers didn't score the rest of the period but felt good heading into the intermission, down just 2-1.

Early in the third Lawrence netted her second goal of the game to restore the Warriors two goal lead. The Lancers refused to quit though and
KayCyn Hernandez scored with 5:24 to go in the third to make it one goal game. The Lancers pulled
Molly Jenkins in the last minute to try and tie the game, but they couldn't capitalize, falling 3-2 to the Warriors.
