Simon, Lancers pick up second win with victory over Lakers

The Windsor Lancers picked up their second win in as many days on Saturday night with an 83-72 win over the Nipissing Lakers Saturday night in North Bay.

The Lancers shot well, defended well and made the right plays at the right times to get back to .500 in OUA play, sitting at 2-2 after tonight's win.

GAME STATS
Telloy Simon was the best offensive player on the floor, dropping 24 points on 41 per cent shooting. The Lakers were led by Quintin Ashitei who scored 20 on 50 per cent shooting.

Simon was the only one to double-double, complimenting his 24 points with 22 rebounds.

The Lancers owned the glass, out-rebounding the Lakers 46-28 as a team.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers shot poorly in the first half, making just 34.9 per cent of their looks from the field. The Lakers weren't doing much better, shooting just 36.7 per cent. The Lancers played tenaciously though, and were led by guard Telloy Simon who double-doubled in the first half alone, grabbing 12 boards and dropping 11 points on 44 per cent shooting. Windsor led at half behind Simon's 11 points, 37-34.

The Lancers shot much better in the second half and also spread the scoring out more as well. Simon stayed aggressive on offense, scoring 13 in the second half but also dishing out all six of his assists, allowing Thomas Kennedy and other players to get more involved in the offense. The result was a more cohesive offense and ball movement. Statistically, the Lakers played almost just as good a half as the Lancers but it was the blue and gold that made the plays when they mattered, winning their second game in a row, 83-72.

UP NEXT
The Lancers have quite the test ahead of them, heading to Toronto to take on the Ryerson Rams. Tip-Off is scheduled for Friday Nov. 8 at 8:00 on www.OUA.tv.
