Lancers drop heart breaker to host Rams

The Windsor Lancers lost an absolute heartbreaker in Toronto Friday night, falling in the final seconds 78-75 to the Ryerson Rams.

The Lancers battled hard all game long in an instant classic that featured multiple lead changes and fantastic performances. Unfortunately, the Lancers came out on the wrong end and drop to 2-3 in OUA play.

GAME STATS
Windsor's Thomas Kennedy led all scorers on the night with a career high 33 points on 64 per cent shooting. The Rams were led by Tevaun Kokko who dropped 21 on 53 per cent shooting.

Ryerson's Keevon Small came up big on the boards, leading the game with 12 rebounds. Kennedy led the Lancers with nine.

Kennedy and Small each led the game in steals as well with three each.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers got out to a slow start in the early going as the Rams bounced out to a quick 20-10 lead midway through the first quarter, forcing the Lancers to go to their bench early. Windsor did a good job slowing the Rams down late in the frame, allowing them to score just six points in the back half of the quarter. The visitors still trailed 25-17 after one.

The second quarter was all blue and gold as the Lancers stormed back to make it a two-point game midway through the second behind some great outside shooting from the guard tandem of Telloy Simon and Shakael Pryce. The duo also competed on defense, handling the pick and rolls well. Coming down the stretch the Lancers played some of their best basketball of the season, and only trailed the Rams 38-36 at the break.

Windsor came out with purpose in the second half and jumped out to a four-point lead early in the half. The Rams however stayed close and capitalized on the Lancers misses with some great transition offense, taking the lead back by the midway point of the third, 51-46. Kennedy continued to be a force inside for the blue and gold as they refused to let the Rams get far ahead, trailing by just two heading into the fourth.

In a tight fourth quarter, Telloy Simon nailed a late three to give them a late lead. Unfortunately, the Rams made the winning plays in the dying seconds of the game to win 78-75 and steal the game from the Lancers.
