Gryphons come from behind to defeat Lancers

The Windsor Lancers men's basketball team lost a late lead and fell to the Guelph Gryphons 87-80 on Friday night.
 
The Lancers got out to a great start but gave up 52 points over the last two quarters to drop their fourth game in a row.
 
GAME STATS
Guelph's Malcolm Glanville and Rasheed Weekes each led the game in scoring with 27 each. The Lancers were led by Chris Poloniato and his 19 points.
 
Banky Alade recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The Lancers effort on the glass was led by Thomas Kennedy with eight.
 
The Lancers had a good night from beyond the arc, shooting 36.7 per cent to Guelph's 33.3.
 
GAME FLOW
The Blue and Gold got off to a red-hot start from beyond the three point line. The Lancers shot 55.6 per cent from behind the line en route to opening a lead early over the host Gryphons. Poloniato led the attack from range as the Lancers built their lead. Despite the early success Windsor fell back to earth in the second quarter, dropping their percentage to 37 per cent at halftime. Despite the drop off in shooting the Lancers were able to defend their lead into the break, up 42-35.
 
Windsor kept their foot on the gas as Lucas Orlita's two three pointers kept the Lancers in the lead. Despite the Gryphons punching back, the blue and gold kept their distance with a consistent 8-10 point lead. In the fourth however, the Gryphons finally broke through and took the lead. The Lancers defense crumbled down the stretch, giving up 54 per cent shooting and almost 30 points in the fourth quarter. Rasheed Weekes' 18 points catapulted Guelph ahead of the Lancers for good, 87-80.
