Lancers advance to Final Four

The Windsor Lancers extended their season with a fantastic playoff performance at Ryerson. Trailing the Rams 2-1 and fresh off dropping two sets in a row, the Windsor Lancers responded and picked up a heart pumping victory, 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-10), extending their season and keeping their hunt for the Forsyth Cup alive.
 
GAME STATS
Xander Ketrzynki led the game with 30 kills on the night. The Lancers were led by Pierce Johnson and his 18.
 
Nolan Langley was the best passer with 52 assists. The Rams were led by Greg Vukets with 42.
 
Adam Sandeson led the game in digs with 14. Pierce Johnson led Windsor's defense with 13.
 
GAME FLOW
The Lancers got out to a solid start early on against Ryerson. They used a combination of stellar defense and precise offense to give them a slim lead and wowing the large contingent of Lancers faithful at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. The Lancers rode the positive momentum into a 16-13 lead at the tech timeout and kept the pressure up throughout. Roland Bouchard sealed the deal with a kill from Nolan Langley to take the set and lead 25-20.
 
The blue and gold got out to a lead early in the second set as well, consistently sustaining their slim lead. The Rams, however, responded and a game of back and forth ensued as the technical timeout approached. At the break, the Lancers were on the right side of the 16-15 score, but they were locked in quite a fight with the Rams. Late in the set the Rams opened their own slight lead, one they held on to take the set, 25-22, tying the match at one.
 
The third set was all Rams early but the Lancers battled back keeping themselves in the middle of a very important swing set. Despite the blue and gold keeping it close, they trailed at the break 16-13 and held on to win the set 25-22 to go up 2-1.
 
The Lancers struggled in the fourth set as they fell behind early but as they had previously, battled to keep it tight. As the technical timeout approached it was anyone's set as the Lancers took their first lead of the set. At the break the Lancers held a slim 16-15 lead, looking to keep their season going with a win in this set. In a perfect display of how close these teams are, a back and forth ensued as both teams raced towards the set point.  In a thrilling end Dami Allalade sealed the deal for the Lancers and forced a fifth set with his kill, 25-23.
 
The fifth set was tight to start things off as both teams battled neck and neck in the must win set. The Rams however, opened a slight lead off some nice blocks. The blue and gold battled back again and held an 8-6 lead at the side switch. The Lancers played some of their best volleyball late and Allalade came big as the Lancers stole the set and match, 15-10.
