The Lancer men's soccer team opened the 2019 season on the road this weekend. They came away with a 1-1 draw against McMaster on Saturday, before falling 2-1 to Brock on Sunday.
Â
Windsor comes home to Alumni Field next weekend when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds in a weekend doubleheader.
Â
SATURDAY @ McMASTER
Anand Sergeant got the home team on the board first striking from a free kick in the 31st minute. Â
Â
He and the Marauders were pegged back quickly, however, when
Jonathan Agapito capped an incisive Lancers move in the 40th minute to level.
Â
McMaster applied extensive pressure in the second half, putting nine shots on net, however
Kaneen Fells was up to the task and prevented the Marauders from striking again.
Â
The hosts outshot the Lancers 21-5 overall on the day.
Â
SUNDAY @ BROCK
In a feisty first half, both teams were equally matched but could not find the back of the net. Four yellow cards were issued in the half as the teams headed into the locker room scoreless after the first 45 minutes.
Â
Windsor struck first in the 53rd minute with a goal from third year
Tanner Page and held the lead until the 71st minute when Brock scored their first of two to tie the game. The game winner came with just three minutes remaining in regulation off of a penalty kick.
