Men's Soccer earns tie with Golden Hawks

The Windsor Lancers men's soccer team battled their way to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon against the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo.

After trailing for most of the game the Lancers got a goal in the 78th minute to take a point home from the Golden Hawks.

Windsor survived an early onslaught from the hosts, who doubled the Lancers shot total in the first half. The barrage broke through for the Hawks in the 17th minute when Matt Walraven made quick work of a cross from Lucas Cabral to put the Hawks up 1-0.

The Lancers backed up their defense to slow the Laurier attack and it worked as the Golden Hawks were kept off the board after their first goal, but the Lancers still trailed.  Finally, in the 78th minute the defensive strategy paid off for Windsor with Paul Di Meo flashed some fun footwork to beat Laurier keeper Jeffery Omoregie-Sanni to tie the game and give the Lancers a point.
