The Windsor Lancers men's basketball team opened the 2020 portion of the OUA season on a sour note, dropping a tough road game against Laurier, 95-71 Saturday evening in Waterloo.
Â
GAME STATS
Ali Sow was on fire all night for the Golden Hawks, dropping 41 points on 62 per cent shooting.
Thomas Kennedy did his bit for the Lancers, leading them with 27 points on 55 per cent shooting.
Â
Kennedy was the only player to double-double, pairing his 27 points with 10 rebounds, and was also great on both ends, leading the game in both blocks and steals with three each. Laurier's Matt Minutillo had three steals for the Golden Hawks.

GAME FLOW
The first half was a story of the three-point shot as one team was hitting them and one was not. The blue and gold hit a respectable 47 per cent of their looks from the field but went ice cold from distance, going 1-for-6 from three. As for the Hawks, they made five of their first seven threes and shot almost 44 per cent from distance, and nearly the same from the field. Despite 16 first half points from Kennedy the Lancers found themselves in a 45-33 hole at the break.
Â
The second half was more of the same as the Lancers battled hard but couldn't come up with any answers for a red-hot Golden Hawks offence. The Lancer offence found its three-point stroke late in the game, but Laurier's Ali Sow kept the Golden Hawks out in front, dropping 41 points in 33 minutes. As the game wound down the Golden Hawks coasted to a commanding win over the Lancers, 95-71.
