The Windsor Lancers women's volleyball team took care of business at home on Friday night defeating the visiting RMC Paladins 3-1 (19-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-21) in thrilling fashion in front of their fans.
GAME STATS
First-year
Yaila Sealy continued her consistent play leading the lady Lancers with 18 kills in the win. Fourth-year veteran
Lexi Pollard also chipped in offensively with 13 kills on the night while local second-year product
Ally Winik had 10 kills as well.
Brooke Davis got her team going in the win leading the way with 45 assists and 4 service aces on the night. RMC was led by both Lauryne Mvuezelo and Logan Rook who each had 10 kills for the Paladins in the loss.
GAME FLOW
In the first set, the Lancers struggled on the serve receive failing to generate any offense due to poor passing. RMC kept punishing the Lancers from the service line and managed to come away with an early upset 1-0 lead in the match.
In the second, the blue and gold shook off the previous set and came into the second with a whole new mindset. Consistency offensively from attacks and strong serving propelled them to a dominating rebound win to tie the match up at 1-1.
In the third set, the Lancers kept their foot on the gas and looked to battle back in this contest. They kept their focus and that mental discipline allowed them to take a 2-1 lead in the match and switch the momentum their way.
In the fourth set, the Lancers asserted their dominance jumping up to a 13-1 lead and also a 16-3 lead at the technical timeout off of strong serving from Davis. The Paladins though displayed resilience though battling back in the set inching closer and closer from the serving line as Mvuezelo kept the red and white's hopes alive with strong serving. She had 6 service aces in the match including which all came in the fourth set. Ultimately though, the Paladins late game serving streak was ended and the Lancers went on to take the win staving off a fifth set which would have likely favored RMC based on a miraculous comeback effort. Nonetheless though, the Lancers improved to 4-6 on the season.

The Lancers will return to the court in less than 24 hours as they take on the Queen's Gaels at home tomorrow night. First serve is scheduled for 6:00pm at the St. Denis Centre.
