The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team suffered its second road loss in as many nights on Saturday, falling 5-2 to the Ryerson Rams.
Â
The Lancers trailed the whole way and struggled to put the puck on net, something they did well the night before. The loss drops the Lancers to 12-10 on the season.
Â
GAME STATS
Jonathan Reinhart had a good outing, stopping 31 of 35 shots, while Ryerson's Garrett Forrest made 21 saves on 23 shots.
Â
Ian Parker scored both markers for the Lancers, his fourth and fifth of the season.
Â
The Lancers power play had a productive night, scoring on their only opportunity.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Rams pushed the puck early and capitalized on their power play opportunities when they could. Late in the period Patrick Fellows beat Reinhart with the extra man, putting the hosts up 1-0 with 4:03 to go in the opening frame.
Â
The second period didn't get off to the start the Lancers hoped for with the Ram's Jesse Barwell beating Reinhart just 1:20 into the period, doubling Ryerson's lead. Shortly after though,
Ian Parker finally snuck one past Forrest to pull the Lancers to within one just 96 seconds after Ryerson's goal. The celebration was short lived though as Brandon Glover scored Ryerson's second goal of the period, restoring their lead. Going into the third period, the Lancers still faced a two-goal deficit, 3-1.
Â
The third period was a slow one for the Lancers offensively and just before the five-minute mark, the Lancers paid for it when Devon Paliani made it a 4-1 game. Despite Parker scoring a power play goal and his second goal of the game, the Lancers lacked the fire power again tonight, losing 5-2.
