GAME FLOW
In the first period, it was Lakehead that kicked things off on a goal by Josh Laframboise who appeared to be the one to get the Thunderwolves going early in the game at the 11:49 mark giving the Thunderwolves a 1-0 lead towards to midway point of the period. However, with the momentum being held by Lakehead for most of the period, the Lancers would respond though towards the end of the first frame as Skinner scored his first on the evening picking up a powerplay marker to tie things up at the 16:14 mark.Â
Â
In the second period, after a low-scoring first period, the Lancers powerplay unit went to work again towards the midway mark as it was Skinner again letting one go off his stick and in to record his second on the night and give the blue and gold a 2-1 lead. Later in the period, first year forward
Bryce Yetman put away his first as a Lancer scoring at the 16:30 mark in the period. After 40 minutes of play the Lancers lead the game 3-1.Â
Â
In the final frame, after a calm first two periods, the game turned into a nightmare for the Thunderwolves. The Lancers offense wreaked havoc on the Thunderwolves net as the lamp continued to light up.
Connor Logan opened the scoring in the third frame notching in a shorthanded marker 34 seconds into the third. Later on, Parker would get on the scoresheet with his first of the night increasing the Lancer lead to 5-1. Shortly after,
Brennan Feasey wanted in on the action scoring his ninth goal of the season putting up the Lancers by a boatload. The Lancers were not done scoring yet though, as at the 14:07 mark the special teams would factor in again with Parker putting away his second on the evening shorthanded to give the Lancers a 7-1 lead. Finally, to put the cherry on top, Skinner would complete his first hat trick of the season on a shorthanded marker at the 15:31 mark in the final frame.
Â
Meanwhile, Reinhardt would go on to stand tall and turn away all shorts faced by the Thunderwolves following the only Lakehead goal early in the first period. With a solid team effort displayed in this contest, the Lancers took this one in a blow-out win which the fans loved every minute of at the Capri Ice Complex.Â
